Description
The hernias are defects of the abdominal wall which “out” part of the intestinal content adopting bulky form.Generally, they  appear through areas of weakness of the same , either by anatomical defects (umbilical, inguinal, crural …) or by defects generated by previous surgeries (in this case they are called incisional incisional hernias or hernias).

Symptom
Hernias may cause discomfort or localized pain in the same hernia or lump . It can also be the case that thehernia is “strangulated” , that is, the content of the hernia is trapped and necrose and infect, this produces a lot of pain and it is necessary to perform an emergency surgery to avoid major complications.

Treatment
The treatment of hernias is always surgical and consists of “repairing” the defect, reducing the hernia and reinforcing the abdominal wall either with suture material or with a mesh of plastic material, the latter being the most used option in our day. its lower recurrence rate.
The operation can be performed laparoscopically or with traditional surgery, depending on the case. If there are no complications, it usually does not require more than a day of admission (sometimes the patient can go home the same day) and the patient’s recovery is usually fast and very satisfactory.
